MISTY CALVEZ

Golden Saber Director/Dance Teacher

Mrs. Calvez is a 27 year veteran teacher and is the Director of the Golden Saber Dance Team , teaches elective dance classes and is the VISD Facilitator for Dance. Her love of dance developed in elementary where she took ballet, tap and jazz at a local dance studio. In junior high school, her focus shifted to playing violin in the orchestra at Crain and Patti Welder Junior High Schools and at Stroman High School. As a Stroman High School Raider, Class of '91, she joined the Wranglers Pre-Drill class in 9th grade and went on to be a Raider Belle her 10th-12th grade years, serving as 1st Senior Deputy her senior year. 

In 1996, she graduated from Southwest Texas State University, in San Marcos, with a Bachelors of Exercise and Sports Science, earning a Texas teaching certificate in dance. This year marks her 14th year at VEHS. She was blessed with the opportunity to start the dance team when the school opened it's doors in 2010.

The dance team is a service dedicated organization that performs at multiple school and community events in Victoria. Mrs. Calvez’s students have won multiple top awards at various competitions across the state, and her students consistently score Division 1’s on their solos and team dances. Her dance classes enjoy opportunities in performance and learn many styles of dance throughout the year. She loves her job and her students and enjoys helping them prepare to live a life of kindness, integrity, and success!
