Career & College Center

Good afternoon Titans,

With the current situation in regards to COVID-19, both VISD and Victoria College are taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. To help alleviate any confusion or misinformation, I want to offer an update on steps the Victoria East Career and College Center will be taking regarding communications, appointments, dual credit opportunities, and other general topics.

Career & College Center Contact Information

First and foremost, while the Career and College Center’s physical office will remain closed until the campus reopens for normal operations, I want to encourage students, parents, and staff with any questions to reach out to myself or Ms. Vega through email or Remind. Both VISD and Victoria College remain ready to assist students as much as possible, especially with the transition of students to online classroom alternatives

Bailey Koebrick - Career & College Coach

Remind Messaging: Text @6db6e8 to 81010 or join via the Remind App.

Alexis Vega - Career & College Center Administrative Assistant

Remind Messaging: Text @vehsck1 to 81010 or join via the Remind App.

Making Appointments

Until further notice, all appointments will take place via phone or video conference, using the Cisco WebEx Meetings application. This will allow students to have remote meetings with me for such things as academic advising, academic coaching, dual credit and other general questions.

There are two ways to schedule an appointment:

  1. If you are a dual credit student who is currently enrolled in a dual credit course for the spring 2020 semester: Log into Pirate Portal > click “LaunchPad” > “Navigate-Students” > “Appointments” > “Schedule an Appointment” > Follow the prompts to set your appointment.
  1. Hint: Type of appointment is Advising & Counseling”.
  1. Students who are not currently in the dual credit program should send me an email to get their appointment scheduled at

Career & College Center Website Updates

Students will also want to check the Career and College Center website for updates and information regarding dual credit for new and current students, events, testing, financial aid, scholarships, college visit days and events as well as career exploration opportunities.

Dual Credit Students

Dual Credit Informational Meetings

For students interested in joining the dual credit program, dual credit informational sessions will be available online via the WebEx application from Monday, March 30th through Friday, April 3rd. There will be one session at 12 p.m. and one at 4:30 p.m. daily.

To reserve your spot in one of these sessions, email with your full name, birthdate, the high school you attend, and the preferred session (day and time).

TSI Testing Opportunities

Due to the temporary closure of Victoria East, all on campus TSI sessions and related field trips have been suspended.

Students that are needing to take the TSI assessment will still have the opportunity to do so on the Victoria College Campus. The Testing Center has structured a testing environment that meets the CDC’s current recommendations and will be offering small-group testing sessions. To sign up, visit the following link:

Course Exam Procedures

For all updates and expectations regarding exams in specific dual credit courses, students need to contact their instructors directly for more information.

Deadline to Drop a Dual Credit Course

The deadline to drop any dual credit course for the spring 2020 semester has been extended to Monday, April 13th. Courses dropped before the specified deadline will not impact the student’s college GPA and will only be noted as attempted on their college transcript. If a student does not feel confident in obtaining a passing grade prior to the end of the semester, dropping the course early insures that we can place the student back into a high school course to recover any necessary high school credit.

For any student who may wish to drop a dual credit course, please contact me immediately via email at

Technology Needs

If you are a dual credit student who is currently enrolled in a course that has been shifted from in person to online or may need technology assistance, please read the following message:

Victoria College will make three student computer labs available to students who do not have the technology needed at home:  Allied Health Building Room 104, Technology Center Building Room 129, and the library.  Ten computers will be available in each location, and portable hand sanitizers will be set up at each location.  For programs requiring special software, Victoria College is working on making labs available to those students as well.

Event Cancellations

Victoria College has determined that the safest course of action that we can take for the health and wellness of our guests, students and employees is to follow the recommendations of the CDC and postpone all non-essential events.  As a precautionary measure, Victoria College has canceled the Women in Industry Field Trip that was scheduled for April, 1, 2020.  Just like you, we are disappointed in this decision as we have found the event to be successful in showcasing the wonderful opportunities in industrial trades to females in a unique and engaging way.   At this time, we are uncertain if we will be able to reschedule this event, but be assured we will let you know as soon as a decision is made.

The Victoria East TSI Field Trip scheduled for Friday, March 27th has also been cancelled.

As of now, our upcoming Dual Enrollment Informational date of April 21stis suspended as well.

As we receive more information, I will reach out with any updates regarding the rescheduling or cancellation of additional events.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Wishing you and your family all the best and hope you all are doing well.

Throughout the school year, the Career and College Center arranges various college, university, technical and vocational recruiter visits, as well as military recruiter visits at our Victoria East HS campus. Recruiters have the opportunity to speak directly with our students in the lunchroom commons area during lunch periods, give classroom presentations, or show web-based presentations. If you're interested in scheduling a visit or presentation, please contact Ms. Alexis Vega.

GenTX Victoria, a part of the statewide Generation TX movement, is a community-wide collaboration aimed at encouraging an entire generation of Texans to pursue education or training after high school. Throughout the school year, the Career and College Center will have various field trips and events available to students and parents that focus on career opportunities, colleges and universities, financial aid (FASFA) and College Applications.
We invite students, parents, educators, businesses, and community leaders to become part of the movement and to support this generation of Texas students. The first step to getting involved with Generation TX is simply to believe in us—believe that we can change the future of Texas.
