Joining Dual Credit Program

 

 

Dual Credit Opportunities 

Dual Credit Enrollment is an educational program designed to enable high school students to enroll in courses that receive both college and high school credits simultaneously. Dual Credit Enrollment is a great way for high school students to get a jump start on their college education.

 

   

 

 

**August 14th is the deadline to register for the Fall 2019 semester. Classes are quickly filling up! Complete the items below ASAP and contact Ms. Koebrick so you can get your class(es)!**

 

 

 

        

 

 

 

Students interested in Dual Credit must complete the following items

 
  1. Apply to Victoria College at www.ApplyTexas.org and allow 3 - 5 days for processing:

    • Once on the ApplyTexas homepage, log in or create a new account (if you do not already have one).
    • Write down your username and password for safe keeping.
    • Click on "My Applications" > "Start a New Blank Application" > "Create a new 2 year college admissions application"
    • Select "Victoria College" from the drop down menu.
    • When a question appears asking if you are still in high school, click "yes". If you miss this step, your application will not be classified as a dual credit student.
    • Semester of Entry > "Fall 2019"
    • Continue completing the application until it is fully completed then submit the application.
  2. Complete Testing Requirements
    • Students are required to meet certain testing standards prior to enrollment.
    • We will accept TSI, PSAT, SAT and/ or ACT scores. (PSAT, SAT and/ or ACT scores can exempt you from having to take the TSI)
    • TSI:
      • The test is computer-based, not timed, costs $12 and scores are received immediately after the test.
      • You can view TSI testing dates and times provided by Victoria College here.
      • TSI testing will also be offered monthly on the East campus. Speak with Ms. Koebrick for more information on how to sign up.
    • PSAT/ NMSQT:
      • If you believe your scores exempt you, log in to collegeboard.org to print out a copy of your scores or speak with your high school counselor if you took it with the district.
    • SAT:
      • If you believe your scores exempt you, log in to collegeboard.org to print out a copy of your scores.
    • ACT
      • If you believe your scores exempt you, log in to act.org to print out a copy of your scores or speak with your high school counselor if you took it with the district.
  3. Attend a Dual Credit Orientation:
    • It is mandatory that the student and their parent/ guardian attend an orientation meeting to learn more about the Dual Credit Program.
    • Our next dual credit meeting will be March 11th, 2020 @ 5:30pm at the Victoria College Student Center. This meeting is for all students interested in taking dual credit courses during the 2019-2020 academic year. **Individual sessions are available**
  4. Submit the Dual Credit Agreement Form:

    • Complete the online form here.
  5. Submit your Dual Credit Contract:
    • Please download the form from the right side of this page, complete and return to Ms. Koebrick via email or drop off at the Career & College Center (first door on the right in the East library).
  6. Submit your Updated Contact Information Form:
    • Please download the form from the right side of this page, complete and return to Ms. Koebrick via email or drop off at the Career & College Center (first door on the right in the East library).
  7. Submit your Bacterial Meningitis Shot Record:
    • Please turn in a copy of your shot record, from your doctor or pharmacist, to Ms. Koebrick in the Career & College Center. Please do not send this information via email as it contains confidential HIPPA Law protected content.
  8. Submit your **Optional FERPA form:
    • Please download the form from the right side of this page, complete and return to Ms. Koebrick via email or drop off at the Career & College Center (first door on the right in the East library). By law, this form can only be completed by the student!
  9. Contact Ms. Koebrick to Discuss Potential Dual Credit Courses and Confirm your Classes for Spring 2019:
    • Students must confirm all courses and class times with Ms. Koebrick.
    • Students that do not confirm their classes will not be registered for their course(s).
