Shields

Victoria ISD will host two town hall meetings at Shields Elementary School to provide information to families and community members regarding the current state of the campus and its functionality.

The meetings will take place on Wednesday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m. in the Shields Elementary Cafeteria. Community members may attend either session, as the same information will be shared at both meetings.

These town halls follow an information item presented by Superintendent Sheila Collazo at the April 16 Board of Trustees meeting. During the meetings, district leadership will share details about the condition of the campus and immediate operational considerations.

Over the past year, the campus has experienced ongoing maintenance and facility-related challenges. The town hall meetings will provide an opportunity to share factual information about current conditions and how the district is addressing short-term functionality.

โ€œProviding clear, factual information and creating space for our families to stay informed is important as we navigate decisions related to our facilities,โ€ said Superintendent Collazo. โ€œWe encourage our Shields families and community members to attend, hear directly from district leadership, and stay engaged.โ€

Shields Elementary is included in the Bond 2026 proposition as a campus identified for demolition. Information shared at the town hall meetings will focus on the current state of the campus and its short-term functionality.

Victoria ISD encourages all Shields Elementary families, staff, and community members to attend one of the scheduled town hall meetings to learn more and stay informed.
