The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees has approved the 2025–26 Employee Compensation Plan, marking the fifth consecutive year that all VISD staff members will receive an across-the-board pay increase.
In 2021–22, following six years without districtwide raises, the Board implemented a 4% mid-point salary increase. This adjustment was made possible by a voter-approved 3-cent tax rate increase, signaling a renewed focus on investing in VISD employees.
Subsequent annual increases have been supported through strategic financial planning, including a focus on budget efficiencies and the reduction of non-essential vacant positions.
“Supporting our teachers and staff through meaningful pay increases is not just a financial decision; it’s a reflection of our values,” said Board President Micah Patton. “Year after year, we’ve worked to ensure our compensation plan honors the dedication of our VISD team.”
Highlights of the 2025–2026 Compensation Plan Include:
Starting teacher and professional support staff pay will increase to $50,000 a year.
Teachers with one to two years of experience will receive a $1,500 pay increase.
Teachers with three or four years of experience will receive a $2,500 pay increase.
Teachers with five or more years of experience will receive a $5,000 pay increase.
Professional Support Staff who do not meet the teacher definition provided by the state will receive a $1,500 pay increase.
Paraprofessional/Classified employees will receive up to a $500 pay increase plus 2% of midpoint.
Bus drivers will receive a 0.57-cent-per-hour increase.
All remaining eligible full-time staff members not listed above will receive a 2% increase based on the pay grade’s midpoint salary.
The approved plan reinforces the district’s strategic priority of recruiting and retaining high-quality educators and staff by offering competitive compensation in a challenging job market.
VISD remains focused on ensuring that every employee feels valued for the important role they play in helping students thrive.
The 2025-26 Compensation Plan will be available on the VISD website following the August 7 board meeting.
