As summer winds down, it’s time again for families and students across Victoria ISD to gear up for a fresh, exciting academic year. Here’s everything you need to know to ensure a smooth and successful start to the 2025–26 school year.
First, if you haven’t already, make sure to check out the Back to School webpage on VISD.net, visit www.visd.net/backtoschool. This webpage is a great start to all the information you need for the 2025-26 school year.
The Board of Trustees has approved the 2025‑26 academic calendar, with school beginning on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and ending on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Make sure you visit www.visd.net/academiccalendars to download, screenshot, and print this year's school calendar.
Victoria ISD opened its Student Priority Registration early on April 1, 2025, and kept it open through April 30. During that time, returning students received personalized Snapcodes via email the week of March 24, one per child, that families can use to access registration materials and upload documents in English or Spanish.
Registration remains open to all students at the online portal. Families are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible. Having registration completed prior to the first day of school helps campuses finalize class assignments, staffing, and resources promptly.
What You’ll Need:
Proof of residency
Parent/guardian photo ID
Updated immunization records for Early Education, Pre‑K, Kindergarten, and 7th‑grade students
If additional documentation is required, schools will reach out directly to families.
Important Back-to-School Dates
To help students and families feel confident and prepared, VISD campuses are hosting a variety of events to welcome new students and provide helpful information before the first day of school.
Froggy Camp for incoming Pre-K students will be held on Monday, August 11, from 4 to 5 p.m. at each student’s home campus. This special event gives our youngest learners and their families a chance to tour their classrooms, meet teachers, and get excited about their first school experience.
Elementary Sneak Peek will take place right after Froggy Camp on August 11, from 5 to 6 p.m., giving all elementary students and their families an opportunity to meet teachers and visit classrooms before school officially begins.
6th grade/New Student Orientation for all incoming 6th grade students and new middle school students is scheduled for Monday, August 11, from 3 to 4 p.m. at each middle school campus. Students will meet key staff, learn about opportunities for clubs and extracurriculars, and get familiar with their schedules.
Fish Camp orientation is an event for incoming freshmen and new high school students, it will be held at both high schools on Thursday, August 7.
At Victoria East High School, it will take place earlier that day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
At Victoria West High School, Fish Camp will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m..
These events are a great way for new students to meet their peers, explore the campus, and prepare for a successful transition to high school. Make sure to mark your calendars! These events are designed to make the first day less stressful and more exciting for everyone involved.
Parent & Community Engagement
VISD is launching several initiatives to bolster family involvement:
Parent University, a free, interactive workshop series designed to empower families with tools to support student success, begins in the upcoming year. These sessions also offer families the opportunity to connect with other parents, share experiences, and become stronger advocates for their children and their community. VISD encourages all parents and guardians to attend and take advantage of this free resource. For more information and upcoming session dates, visitwww.visd.net/parentu.
The new “Showing Up for Excellence” attendance initiative will launch on the first day of school, highlighting the critical role consistent attendance plays in academic achievement. To catch up and learn more about the 2025-26 attendance initiative, visit https://www.visd.net/article/2320578.
In compliance with Texas HB 1481, VISD will enforce an “Off and Away” cell-phone policy during school hours beginning in the 2025–26 year, restricting student phone use during school hours. We encourage parents and students to discuss this new law ahead of the 2025–26 school year to ensure smooth compliance and understanding. Our shared priority is to foster a distraction‑free learning environment in support of academic growth and student well‑being.
What Families Can Do Now
Finish registration now (if not already done). Visiting the VISD registration portal and uploading documents avoids delays. The priority Snapcode period may have passed, but open enrollment continues for all families, visit www.visd.net/registration.
