The Victoria ISD Education Foundation is pleased to announce a $10,000 donation from the Keating Family Foundation to support reading and writing growth for Victoria ISD students. This generous contribution helped make the Keating Literacy Cup: Racing to Reading & Writing Growth possible, an initiative designed to turn measurable literacy growth into a visible, motivating race among five of Victoria ISD’s elementary schools.
The initiative was celebrated with an official launch event by VISD on Thursday, October 22, at the Victoria Fine Arts Center. Campus principals, students from each participating school, and members of the Victoria ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors joined in for the celebration. The Keating Family Foundation brought two race cars for students to enjoy and take photos with, adding to the excitement.
Approximately 1,649 students at Aloe, Chandler, Dudley, O’Connor, and Rowland elementary schools will participate in the Keating Literacy Cup throughout the school year. The program encourages students to strengthen their reading and writing skills while giving educators opportunities to monitor progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed. Incentives and celebrations of achievement will help students recognize their progress and build confidence in their learning.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Keating Family Foundation for investing in our students and helping bring this initiative to life,” said Katie Pool, Executive Director of the Victoria ISD Education Foundation. “Community partnerships like this create opportunities for students to grow, build confidence, and experience the excitement of reaching their goals. We are proud to help connect generous community partners with initiatives that make a meaningful difference in our schools, and we look forward to building more partnerships that create exciting opportunities for VISD students.”
“The Keating Family Foundation’s generosity is an investment in the future of every student we serve at Victoria ISD,” said Lucy Herrera, Governance Committee Chair for the Victoria ISD Education Foundation.
Through this partnership, the Education Foundation and VISD are working together to encourage student growth, celebrate achievement, and build a stronger foundation for success.
