The First Day of Class
Wake Up Early:

Face-to-Face: You will need time to find your building and room on the VC campus.
Alternating: You will need to see if you must be at VC the first day of class and if so, you will need time to find your building and room on the VC campus. If not, you will need time to download WebEx and/ or log on to the course via Webex.

Log in to CANVAS:
Log into "Pirate Portal" > click “CANVAS”. This is where all online classes will take place as well as where you will find any online assignments, readings, lectures, quizzes, or other online content posted by your instructor(s). Courses that are not classified as using the Online Instructional Method may still post content in CANVAS that you are responsible for accessing as required by your instructor.
Read your Syllabus:
Log into CANVAS and view your Syllabus for each course, if the instructor has made it available within CANVAS. The Syllabus outlines the rules and expectations of the course and often includes such information as grading policy, assignments to be completed, weekly readings, required textbooks and materials, instructor contact information and class meeting expectations just to name a few things.
Many courses will require that students meet virtually via the WebEx Video Conferencing Application and students can also use this application to set appointments with their instructor(s), an advisor, the tutoring center or Success coach. To download WebEx, please follow the instructions below.
Visit https://www.webex.com/downloads.html > under WebEx Meetings click your preferred download method and follow the prompts to download and open the application.
