VISD Students Advance to State VASE Art Competition

On Saturday, March 4, Victoria West High School hosted the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Art Competition. Our VASE Competition has grown to include 9 different high schools from various districts across Region 3 with over 300+ artworks entered into the competition this year.

All of the art students in both Victoria East and Victoria West High School worked countless hours to create amazing artwork to compete in this year's Visual Art Scholastic Event. Every student who participated put forth their absolute best work that showed off their artistic voice and was able to express themselves. The students also sat through an interview process with a juror where they explained how they made their artwork and the meaning behind it as part of the judging process.

Those that received a 4 rating in Regional moved on to Area. Pieces that made it to Area went through another round of judging separated by Division based on how many credits of art they have had in high school. Division 1 is first-year art students and Division 4 is advanced art students. Judges could only select 10% of each Division to advance on to State. State VASE took place on April 28-29, in San Marcos, TX.
