Earlier this month, five members of the Victoria East High School Titan Speech and Debate Team traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to compete in the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament.
The National Speech & Debate Association was created in 1925 to provide recognition and support for high school students participating in speech and debate activities.
Jack Yoast, upcoming senior at East, reached the semi-finals in Senatorial Congressional Debate, making him Victoria East’s first National Semifinalist in Debate. This places Jack in the top 50 students in the nation in Congressional Debate.
“I’m so proud of Jack and the entire team,” said VEHS Speech and Debate Coach Bryan Winn. “This is a first for the Titan Speech & Debate Team and we are looking for even more achievements out of this group in the future.”
