Victoria ISD is excited to announce upcoming course selection presentations for current 5th-11th graders. These sessions are designed to guide students in planning their schedules for the 2025-26 school year, helping them build a strong academic foundation and explore opportunities aligned with their interests and future goals.
What Course Selection Entails
Course selection is a critical step in helping students map out their academic journey. During these sessions, students will explore core classes, electives, and specialized opportunities, empowering them to make informed decisions about their educational paths.
What Students Will Learn
For current 5th-7th graders, the course selection presentations will introduce students to the academic and elective options available at their grade level. These sessions will also highlight opportunities in fine arts, athletics, and extracurricular programs, as well as advanced course options like Honors and accelerated pathways. Students will gain a deeper understanding of how their middle school coursework builds a foundation for success in high school.
For current 8th through 11th graders, the presentations will focus on graduation requirements and advanced course options, such as Dual Credit and Advanced Placement classes. Students will explore elective courses, career pathways, and specialized programs like P-TECH.
Additionally, they will learn how to align their academic plans with their personal and professional aspirations and stay on track for post-secondary readiness, whether their goals include college, career, or military service.
Parents/Guardians, Next Steps
After the presentations, students will access their SchooLinks account to review with their course selections with parents or guardians. They will then collaborate with their school counselors and receive advising to finalize their course selections.
Parents can access the Victoria ISD Course Selection webpage for resources, including the Course Selection Guide, graduation requirements, extracurricular opportunities, and key deadlines. Parents will need to set up their SchooLinks account using the same email used during registration.
