On November 1 and 2, the Victoria East High School Titan Speech and Debate Team traveled to Van Vlek to compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Regional Congressional Debate Meet and swept the top five spots.
The results were:
1st Place - Jack Yoast
2nd Place - Joleigh Burdette
3rd Place - Anahi Medrano
4th Place - Collin Flessner
5th Place - Elijah Cruz
As a result of winning 1st through 5th place, these students now qualify to compete in the UIL Congressional Debate State Meet in January.
This year marks the 8th year that Congressional Debate has been an official UIL event. This year also marks the 8th year that Victoria East High School has sent at least one student to compete at the UIL State meet. However, this is the first year that VEHS has had 5 students qualify.
